Michael Conway PT, DPT, SCS

Mike is a sports physical therapist at Gundersen Health Systems (now Emplify Health). He is a full-time clinician, but he also serves as a core mentor within Gundersen’s sports residency where he assists in clinical mentorship in addition to leading didactic rounds on knee basic science and examination, neurocognitive considerations, strength and conditioning principles, treatment planning and periodization, and return to sport decision making.

 

He also serves as adjunct faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse assisting with clinical orthopedic labs for second year students covering both upper and lower extremity content. Dr. Conway has taken a special interest in ACL rehabilitation as he has co-authored an orthopedic book chapter on ACL rehab progressions from early to late phases. He has conducted research on the utilization of neuroplasticity to enhance motor learning, and he has given multiple presentations to athletic training students, physical therapy students, sports residents, and clinicians across the state of Wisconsin at state conferences as well as continued education courses. The topics presented on have included blood flow restriction training, rehab considerations for in-season athletes, and neurocognitive changes and treatment considerations following surgery or major injury.

 

His credentials include being a board-certified Sports Clinical Specialist from the ABPTS, and he has successfully completed the ABPTS emergency medical response training requirement for acute management of injury and illness.
